March 10: Telangana agitators hoodwinked the police by pretending to perform ‘marriages’ in the Arya Samaj building to slip into the the Lower Tank Bund for the million march agitation.
A husband and wife again tied the knot in the ceremony which was attended by Telangana leaders and agitators in the guise of guests. The agitators also booked two other marriage function halls. Unsuspecting cops allowed them to the area around 1.30 pm and later around 500 of the “marriage invitees” reached the Tank Bund from Ranigunj side.
It was the CPI-ML(New Democracy) leaders who booked the function halls. To make their performance realistic, the agitators also arranged the customary marriage feast. The ‘bride and bridegroom,’ Anjeneyulu and Latha, tied the knot again and then raised ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans and came out to the road.
Intelligence sleuths who were trying to outsmart the T-agitators had no inkling of what was happening. The CPI ML New Democracy leader, Mr Goverdhan, said, “It happened like a miracle. We were able to gather at three marriage function halls around Tank Bund.” Telangana activists including Mr Mallepally Lakshmaiah and others were also members of the marriage party. Students from various universities including OU, Kakatiya and Palamaru reached Lower Tank Bund by sneaking past the security cordon.
IT professionals, doctors, medicos and lawyers participated in large scale in the march apart from the activists of Telangana Praja Front, CPI ML, BJP, TRS, the TRS student wing, ABVP and Joint action committee of RTC employees and other associations. “We have come to play our bit in the Telangana agitation,” said Mr V. Goutham, an IT professional.
