Pranab Mukherjee - President of India

Hyderabad- President Pranab Mukherjee signed the AP Reorganisation Bill-2013 on Saturday, which was passed by Parliament recently. However, suspense still continues regarding the Appointed Day when the two states will be divided formally. According to sources, the Centre may issue the Gazette Notification on Monday, notifying the Appointed Day for the formation of Telangana as the 29th state of India.
Highly placed sources said that the Appointed Day could be June 1. If that is so, the state will continue to be under President’s Rule even after the election results are declared by mid-May, if the polls are held in time. The two states will begin functioning from June 2, when the term of the 13th Assembly ends.
The President also signed the proclamation to impose Central rule in Andhra Pradesh, as had been recommended by the Union Cabinet. The Central government has duly intimated Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan. The President placed the Assembly under suspended animation.
